Triple H or Hiep’s HOAI HUE?

Sep 14, 2010 Posted by Robert in Millenion | Comments

This past week my buddy Hiep’s Vietnamese restaurant ”Hoai Hue” had a Grand Relocation. The place is located in the hearts of El Cajon San Diego. You can find the address below. First off some history on what they specialize in. They offer “Bun Bo Hue” or beef rice vermicelli. The dish originated from the imperial capital of central Vietnam. The broth is usually cooked with beef bones or shanks, some lemon grass, and many different spices and chillies.

The broth tasted clean and soothing, the predominate flavors are lemon grass and beef. The spice level was not flame breath but was about right. Beef was tender and cooked to perfection. The dish held all the proper ingredients such as onions, mints, and crushed black peppers. Hieps place offered many other famous Vietnamese dishes but we decided to wait until next time.

In that new Buffalo tee.

Transworld Magazine has a yearly competition and the rules are…

  • The four teams are made up of a total of six skaters—four pros and two ams.
  • Each team is given nine days in a warehouse with the same set of obstacles.
  • Each team is allowed one art director on site.
  • Each team is assigned one TWS photographer to shoot a feature article for the magazine.
  • Each team is allowed a film crew to produce a video for skateboarding.com.
  • The final photo and video product is judged by the TWS edit staff (minus S&C coordinators Skin Phillips and Josh Brooks) on the level of skating, creativity, the use of obstacles, and overall image and video quality.
  • The winner gets the cover of the magazine and will have a spot reserved in Skate & Create 2011.

This year, four of the industry’s heavy hitters all created some wonderful pieces of work, the four included Adidas, Fallen, Etnies, and Lakai. You can find the rest of the videos HERE.

Poster Boy vs MoMa

Sep 04, 2010 Posted by Robert in Millenion | Comments

On February 10, the Museum of Modern Art launched one of its most extensive and expensive advertising campaigns in history when it reproduced 57 works from its permanent collection and plastered the images around Brooklyn’s Atlantic-Pacific subway station. And then Poster Boy added his signature touches, despite being hired by MoMA to assist with the project.

“MoMA is probably less than pleased with the vandalism of its ambitious advertising campaign by the individual they paid to create it. The museum had purchased all of the advertising space in the station, in what the MTA calls a ‘station domination.’”
