Lazy Sunday

Today we went to check out a place for my friend Jenn’s birthday celebration, some random park with a bay area view. Then we decided to head downtown to grub at Pokez, a fine vegetarian and traditional Mexican food eatery. They cook with vegetable oil, use only organic produce, and have zero MSG. We ordered Joey’s Special, Flautas, and a “You don’t want it!”, an unknown plate. They gave us a lot of food for how much we paid, basically none of us finished any of our plates.

Only in sunny SoCal

Flautas (Beef and Chicken topped with guacamole, sour cream, salsa fresca, cheese and lettuce served with rice and beans)

Joey’s Special (Sautéed strips of marinated chicken with red sauce, melted cheese, and sour cream served with rice, beans, and flour tortillas)

Restroom, paint MOPs anyone?

Aesthetic Rugs

I ran across this pretty interesting rug company called Rugged Art.  All rugs were designed by New York and London graphic designers as well as graffiti artists. ROSTARR, Jose Parla, and Ryan McGinness just to name a few. All pieces are hand woven to the highest quality by Tibetan artisans in Nepal.  Only 100% Tibetan wool is used with a high lanolin content making the rugs more resilient. They only make about 10 pieces of each design at any custom size, making them very nice limited editions.

Color Mood.

The PANTONE HOTEL, located in Brussels, Belgium invites you to experience the city through a lens of color and a spectrum of comforts. Each of the seven floors are enlightened by different color palettes to complement guests’ emotions while the rooms are patterned after one of seven distinct pantone colors. Photographer Victor Levy created photographic installations that complements the design of each room. The hotel has all the amenities and facilities you’d expect, such as luxurious bed & linens, designer furniture, LCD televisions and airconditioning plus fully-equipped meeting rooms and a fab rooftop bar. Also looks like a great place for inspirational artists to stay.

Os Gemeos hits Lisbon

May 25, 2010 Posted by Robert in Millenion | Comments

If you never heard of Os Gêmeos (Otavio and Augusto Pandolfo), they are graffiti artists who are also identical twin brothers from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I would rank them on the same level as Banksy (Stencil Artist) but not as great as Shepard Fairey (Obey Propaganda). Hip hop culture reached Brazil in the late 80s to early 90s and it really attracted them at the time. They started out as breaker dancers, however they got more involved with graffiti. One of their most recent pieces was done on a multi story building in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.

Most recent work in Lisbon, Portuguese.

Older work.

They held a solo show in Madrid called “Sonhei Que Tinha Sonhado” or “I dreamed that I had dreamed”. A multimedia installation of makeshift building facades and audio soundscapes.

Finally, meet the twins.
